Board Meeting

The monthly meeting of the Fairwood West Homeowners’ Association Board of Trustees was called to order at 7:00 pm on Thursday September 11th, 2014.  Trustees in attendance were Adrian Ryneveld, Raymond Byrd, Eileen Richards Brandy Bradford and Christine Sylvia.  Also in attendance were Barb Simeona, Association Bookkeeper, and City of Renton Fire Department.

Any changes to the outside of your home must have
an approved architectural control form on file
prior to work being done on the home.

Renton Fire Department – The City of Renton Fire Batalion Chief was present to report. 

Register with “Renton Red Alert”, a new automated telephone and text message warning system  The City is using a new emergency notification system.  If you had signed up before under the previous service provider, your information will not automatically transfer over. 

It is very important that each individual household member signs up to make sure the notifications reach everyone.  Go to the City of Renton website at www.rentonwa.gov to sign up.  If you sign up and spread the word on Twitter please use the hashtag #RentonRed Alert. 

Please located your nearest Neighborhood Information Center and store a map showing the location with your household emergency kit.  Neighborhood Information Centers are located at the main entrance to Renton School District schools within the city limits as well as at the Maplewood Golf Course. 

Bookmark the Critical Emergency Information page at www.rentonwa.gov for up-to-date emergency information on Renton roads, utilities, shelters, etc.  This information appears on the city’s home page during serious emergencies to keep you informed and aware of any situation.

Homeowner Appeals – No one present to appeal.

Community Events – Nothing new to report.

Pride In Ownership – Nothing was awarded last month.

Minutes of the Previous Meeting – A motion was made seconded and approved to accept the August meeting minutes as presented.

Financial Report – The monthly financial report was presented. 
Barb noted that two homes that were in arrears and in a lien status were paid off and the lien releases were requested.

Treasurer’s Report – Ray discussed the proposed 2015 budget.  A motion was made, 2nd and approved to accept the 2015 proposed budged as adjusted.  Ray will send Barb a new copy of send out with the annual meeting packed.

Architectural Control Report – It was noted that a porch approved last spring has never been built.

Common Properties Report – Adrian reported that the HOA was awarded a $400K grant for the Molasses Creek project.  We had originally asked for $1.3m.  He has been trying to find out what the next steps are.

Nothing will happen until 2015.  The plans are not yet complete because not all the requirements are yet met.

To receive the $400K we must match but we have no idea yet what the match requirements are.

There was discussion regarding bringing in a community dumpster for a few days in the spring. 

Covenant Enforcement – All homes in violation were reviewed. 

Ray spoke regarding a Chevy Tahoe parked the wrong way on Fairwood Blvd.  Is it a possible stolen vehicle?  He will call it into King County.

Unfinished Business – See the outstanding action items below.

New Business – The Board discussed the annual meeting.  Adrian, Brandy and Christine are up for re-election.  Adrian noted he will not be running again.  There are also 4 other unfilled positions.

The meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m. after a motion was made, 2nd and approved to adjourn.

The next two meetings of the Fairwood West Homeowners’ Association will be held on Thursday October 9th and Thursday November 13th both at 7 pm.  These meetings are in the portable building at the Nativity Lutheran Church, 17707 140th SE.  The October meeting is the annual meeting.
